7th Annual Tyler’s Dam that Cancer Event Exceeds Fundraising Expectations

After being postponed because of flooding in Texas, Austin non-profit The Flatwater Foundation held it’s annual fundraising event, Tyler’s Dam That Cancer, yesterday, July 11th. Despite the delay, this year’s event was the biggest yet, with 160 participants paddling the 21-mile journey on standup paddle boards from dam to dam on Lake Austin. The festivities were capped off with a celebration at the LCRA Lawn to welcome the paddlers to shore.
This was the seventh year that Tyler’s Dam that Cancer paddle was held and it exceeded its fundraising goal of half a million dollars, at $515,000,to help fund critical mental health programs in the area.
After paddle party-goers enjoyed live DJ entertainment by DJ Abe the Assassin, food and drinks by sponsors including NadaMoo!, Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew, KCCO Beer and Mighty Swell Cocktails, a live auction and raffle, with 100 percent of donations and proceeds going to The Flatwater Foundation to continue their mission to provide mental health services to those affected by cancer.
