We are on Hurricane Florence Alert at the Mullet

As many of you know, we are based in Wrightsville Beach/Wilmington, NC. That means we boarded up, packed up and left in advance of what was first thought to be a category 5 storm. When we zoomed in, we could actually see our house just a few miles south of the path so we decided it’d be best to get out of the way. The hurricane has shifted, but we are still glad to be out of the way.
For those of you who don’t know, Lisa Schell, our Managing Editor, has had a long career in journalism and radio, has worked for the NC DOT and LOVES getting weather nerdy. She’s also the gear god, so she understands what you’ll need, best practices, how to understand the information being churned out.
From Lisa:
I think it’s interesting, and maybe worth a mention to note that the electricity to the home where WBLivesurf/Surfline’s WB surf cam is mounted has been turned off as a precaution.
It’s also worth noting that the storm surge is still at high, high levels despite the fact Flo is downgraded to Cat 2.
Outer bands are starting to hit the OBX now…
We are reporting on the hurricane on the Distressed Mullet Facebook Page for the next few days with Facebook Live reports.
