Talking about the Catch 22 series at Surf Expo ranging from the 8″ paddle to the 7 1/4″ blade made with less angle to increase the grab or catch of the paddle and help bring the paddler past the blade. The scoop is decreased to lessen the drag on the release.

While paddling in the standup world will evolve, paddling will remain the same overall. Paddlers who have good technique in other paddling areas have more efficient strokes in standup and while a quick cadence is the trend now, longer length on their stroke, more travel on board. As time goes on the faster paddlers will become more efficient, the stroke rate will come down and the boards will go faster.
