Artist Paddler Family: Check out the ceramics from Chaotic Earth Pottery

Chaotic Earth Pottery

Many of you know two-thirds of the Yang family in Hood River Oregon: Joel and Jhacoli Yang have been regulars on the Mullet, interviewing paddlers and SUP industry folks over the years from Outdoor Retailer Expo and from their home in Hood River, Oregon. Joel runs Village of Stoke and provides downwind tours and lessons in the Gorge at Hood River. If you’re ever headed to the Gorge, we highly recommend reaching out to Joel for a guided downwind tour, especially of the legendary 8 mile downwind course— the Viento Run. He’s hooked into the SIC family and the local, amazing shop, Big Winds.

But that’s not why we’re here. We’re here to showcase something else. Design off the water. While Joel and Coli have been busy on the water, Maia has been creating incredible works of art in her ceramics studio. They are truly remarkable. The ones that we’d specifically like to highlight are the collaborations with Joel and Jhacoli below:

We hope you make your orders in time for the holidays. We love real things built by real people who have a passion for their art. Oh, and ones that paddle and their families, too.
