Can you describe the different races and courses?

Register for the 6 mile elite race (3 laps), 2 mile challenge (1 lap), or a short kid’s dynamic course (10-14 years). The course is perfect for both beginners and advanced racers.

What kind of paddling settings and conditions will racers face?

Flatwater. The race takes place on Lake Erie protected by the Whiskey Island breakwall. Racers may experience small chop and directional wind.

What makes your event great? What will paddlers love about coming to your event?

Catch surprising scenic views of downtown Cleveland, Ohio and Lake Erie. After the races there are yoga classes, board demos, a paddle clinic with Johnny O’Hara. The festival celebrates all things summer and water complete with door prizes, food, exhibitors, free demos, fun races, and live music.

Will there be any clinics and what are the details?

Johnny O’Hara will be giving a paddle clinic. Yoga will be offered both on land and on water.

Reserving a Board A limited number of stand up paddleboards (includes paddle, lifejacket, and leash) can be reserved for $10/board by contacting Outdoor Recreation at 216-341-1701 (Jimmy Lewis Cruise Controls, Blades, and Glide Boards) or Nalu Standup Paddle & Surf at 216-272-1504 (a variety of boards). Surf shape boards are up to 12′. People reserving boards MUST have prior experience on a stand up paddleboard. Board reservations are limited to the 2 mile challenge and Kid’s dynamic course races.

Cleveland has a number of great hotels both downtown (near the race course) and in the western suburb of Westlake, Ohio.

Cleveland has a first class list of great chefs and restaurants. There are great options downtown: East Bank of Flats, E.4th Street, Ohio City, Tremont & W.25th Street.

Where is the best coffee in town?

Erie Island Coffee downtown on E. 4th.; Pour Cleveland 530 Euclid Avenue downtown; Root Cafe in Lakewood, Ohio.
