Can you describe the different races and courses?
Open to Canoe,Kayak,SUP,Outrigger – you have your choice of a 13km downwinder, 4km double lap buoy turn triangle and kids races that are free!
What kind of paddling settings and conditions will racers face?
This is a flatwater course but you may face a little wind and waves
What makes your event great? What will paddlers love about coming to your event?
There is a LOT to do than just race! Friday is a FREE Reel Paddling Film Festival, Saturday’s race day but there’s also a kayak fishing tournament, aerial and USP yoga classes, lunch and supper included on Saturday, a wicked event shirt, live music on the beach, SUP fundraiser paddle event for the local children’s hospital and still more going on!
Will there be any clinics and what are the details?
Aerial Yoga, Sup Yoga, Land Yoga, Sup Clinics, Kayak Rolling and more and they are ALL FREE!
Where can people get paddle gear like PFDs and Hydration packs?
There are a few spots around here like Gearheads and Atmosphere to grab some last minute gear!
Are there paddleboard rentals available and if yes, where? Contact info?
We have all around boards and kayaks available and are FREE if you are racing or a a part of the Stand up for CHEO fundraiser. Email ccoyle@petawawa.ca
Where can people buy groceries?
The are farmers’ markets, many local grocers and as well as many restaurants to choose from.
Where can people stay? Do you have a hotel you can recommend and contact info?
We have camping right at the finish line but there are hotels, motels and B&Bs to check out.
What great local restaurants can you recommend?
From the Creperie in Pembroke to Whitewater Brewing & Pub or a choice of cultural like Madameeks Lebanese food.
Where is the best coffee in town?
Janna’s Cafe a short distance from the finish line and camping.
Does your event benefit a charity and if so, can you tell us about them?
We invest of money back into the event right to the racers ($40 registration vs $10-$120 swag bags – This year is a $65 race shirt). We also partner with Stand Up for CHEO – all money from the Sunday event goes to our local children’s hospital.
