Summer Program week of July 25 – 31

Week 13 of the Summer Program sees a return to a higher training load and the introduction of some new work done at the highest intensity. Tuesday’s all out work is designed to develop lactate tolerance and neuromuscular speed. Please do this work as hard as you can, to the point where things are feeling just a little out of control. It is necessary to get to this point to develop speed and the ability to consistently reproduce higher intensity efforts. Please ensure that the less intense sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday are done as prescribed and you do not go harder than asked. This will help ensure that the hardest sessions this week are done with optimal quality.

As always, those with important races coming up may need adjustments to this work. If you have high priority events in July or August you may need modifications. Please contact me in convos to see if you require modifications to meet your specific needs.

As always, technique continues to be extremely important and sound technique will make your high intensity work more successful. Continue to do drills in your warm ups and cool downs as needed and land-drills for approximately 10 min a couple of times a week.

Please ensure you continue to do the strength work as prescribed it is imperative for maintaining strength through the paddling season. Please do not hesitate to ask questions you may have in convos or in the forum. Have a great week!
