A few of my favorite things from this year: Riviera Bump Paddle and Ergo Grip

The Riviera Bump Paddle is a great option for SUP Surfing. It has a great grip from the top to bottom. It’s a lot of fun.
The shaft gets tacky when it’s wet for a great grip. The Ergo Grip Handle, is perfect because you hand just let your hand sit atop—You would thing a grip like this, that fits your hand and fingers, would make you want to grab it tighter, but it actually is the opposite and allows you to rest your top hand. It can guide the paddle without the energy required to hold on.
It’s carbon fiber, but doesn’t feel brittle or like you’re going to crack it on a rail. The matt finish might have something to do with it. It seems unbreakable. Full Zamperini.
Also, you can choke down super quick when you’re catching a wave then go back up top for paddling from peak to peak.
I tested the R8, which is the smaller blade. It also comes in the 8.5.
Most of you know I don’t get into tensile strength. I’m more of a “feel” “I like it” guy and less of a 8 nanometer dioptic calibration type of paddler. Don’t make me go there.

Warning:
Be careful if you try to text this to someone. Bump Paddle autocorrects to Bum Paddle. Seriously. It just happened.
From the Riviera Website:
The Riviera “BUMP” Paddle is the newest to the Riviera Paddles Line. It comes in 2 blade widths 8″ and 8.5″ and is the most technical paddle we have made to date. The “BUMP” features the same blade shape and shaft as the Vantage series, but has an added carbon fiber weave around the shaft that gives it a bumpy feel, and added grip. Other features include the Ergo Grip Handle that fits perfectly in your hand providing a secure grip, and a satin finish that gives it a stealth look, and adds a textured, gritty feel.
MSRP: $399.00

Yet another in the long list of hilariously inappropriate mullet autocorrect fails. Heart it.
