SUP Connect Interview with Coach Larry Cain

#SUPConnect’s intro to this amazing interview says “Larry Cain undoubtedly has had a long rain of successes in the past 47 years of his paddling career. Most notably, he’s a 3x Olympic Athlete winning Olympic Gold and Silver medals, he’s won 7 Gold medals in 5 World Championships, he’s raced outrigger canoe in 5 Moloka’i to O’ahu crossings, and so much more.

In September of 2010, Larry started to stand up paddle. He has raced on SUP a bunch and had some great successes, along with doing a lot of clinics and coaching. He has had the privilege to coach at successful canoe clubs since 1996 and continues to enjoy sharing his passion for paddling with some great athletes at Burloak. He also has worked as a National Team coach and has coached some of Canada’s top athletes, including three Olympic medalists. In 1996 Larry co-founded Paddle Monster, a subscription-based online coaching service for SUP and outrigger paddlers, and has coached hundreds of paddlers from novice to advanced, including top professionals like Connor Baxter and Christian Andersen.

The thing he likes the best about paddling is being on the water. The thing he likes most about coaching is helping people be their best.”
